It is naive to think that everything is always perfect. It will be a long time before there will be no crime. And so there is much merit in the Second Amendment since it does serve a role as a protection and as a deterent. During this age of transition there will be unfortunate aberrations and these tragedies will cause changes to be made that reduce the occurence of violence in the future. This is the natural order of things.
It is a foolish mistake to think that turning over individual rights to the government is a change for the better. The government is the State and the State is the source of tyranny historically from the beginning of civilization. I realize that most people have not learned about this version of history but that is because the State has been in control of the education system.
If the airlines could have protected themselves there would not have been the 9/11 disaster. If the government knows its citizens are completely disarmed it will act however it wants with no resistance.
